About Querido Padre

Querido Padre began with the desire to bring comfort and hope to children walking through unimaginable separation, to give every child a safe place to share their story, and to provide a tool for healing, connection, and resilience.

The journal was designed especially for children who have been separated from their parents due to immigration issues. Too often, these children find themselves in shelters or temporary housing, carrying feelings of fear, sadness, and uncertainty. Querido Padre gives them a safe place to process those emotions, connect with their loved ones through writing, and hold onto hope.

Inside the journal, children will find:

  • Letter prompts that help them express their feelings to a parent or loved one.

  • Coping skills and activities to manage stress and anxiety.

  • Daily affirmations to remind them of their strength, worth, and resilience.

Querido Padre is more than a journal…

It’s a bridge. It offers children a way to maintain connection with their families and to begin healing in the midst of separation.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, every time someone “sends a journal”, we send it directly to a shelter, free of cost for the children who receive them.

Together, we can place hope, healing, and belonging in the hands of those who need it most.

To provide comfort, connection, and emotional support to children experiencing the pain of family separation at the border.
